The AVIOM A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing System
Finally there's an answer to the age-old problem of the bad monitor mix.

Whether you're performing live or working in the studio, accurate monitoring of yourself and the musicians and singers around you is an essential part of the job. Aviom's Personal Monitor Mixing System can be used with floor wedge monitors, in-ear monitors, headphones, or spot monitors.

With a better monitor mix, you can relax and concentrate on the most important part of the music - your performance. And, you can monitor at a lower volume. Aviom has developed a revolutionary monitoring system that can transmit sixteen channels of audio over a single, inexpensive, readily available cable - the same type of cable used in most computer networks.

Not only can you have a better monitor mix, but you can have a better monitor mix night after night or even from song to song. Need more guitar in your mix for just one song? Not a problem - select the channel, change the volume; and save a preset; all while the band is performing. Need more background vocals, less guitar, and the sax panned to the left? Not a problem; grab a knob and make changes in real time. If you're happy with the changes, save them as a custom preset. Recall up to sixteen custom mix snapshots saved as Presets instantly.

aviom a-16 II

The A-16II Personal Mixer is an updated version of the original A-16 Personal Mixer, part of the Personal Monitor Mixing System. The A-16II Personal Mixer features newly designed higher voltage and higher current output circuitry. The new output design allows even high impedance headphones to be driven louder and cleaner. It also provides cleaner transient response to the entire range of output devices.

A new plug auto-detect circuit at the output determines whether the device plugged into the A-16II’s audio out jack is mono or stereo. This prevents shorting out one side of the mixer’s stereo output electronics and makes it easier for the user to implement mono devices with the Personal Monitor Mixing System. When a mono plug is detected in the output jack, the circuit automatically pans the right channel information so that the individual channel balance remains accurate.

Several new software enhancements have been added in response to input from users around the world. A new solo mode, called Held Solo, allows the user to remain in Solo mode and make channel selections without returning to Mix mode. A Global Trim function provides an easy way to decrease the volume by 6dB on all sixteen mixer channels simultaneously by using a simple button combination. Also, the A-16II Personal Mixer now has the ability to display the last selected mix Preset, a handy way to help the user when updating and saving Presets.

The A-16II Personal Mixer is compatible with the new AVIOM16/o-Y1 Yamaha Output Card, an expansion card for Yamaha digital mixers supporting the mini-YGDAI format. The AVIOM16/o-Y1 card allows Aviom A-16II Personal Mixers to be directly connected to the Yamaha digital consoles.

In addition to these hardware and software updates, some new cosmetic enhancements have also been added. A new writing surface, or “scribble strip” has been designed that gives the user more room for channel names and also allows for standard ½-inch masking tape to be used on the mixer. Text on the new label has been re-arranged and now includes button combination information for the Global Trim function as well as clearer labeling of the Bass and Treble tone controls.

The Personal Monitor Mixing System allows the performer to create a custom monitor mix tailored to his/her individual needs. Designed for use in live performance or in the studio, the Personal Mixer gives each performer control over channel volume, grouping, pan, stereo spread and master volume. Each and every Personal Mixer in the system can create a unique monitor mix for a performer. Users can save and recall up to sixteen custom mixes as presets in their Personal Mixer. The stereo output from the Personal Monitor Mixing System can be used to drive floor wedge monitors, in-the-ear monitors, headphones or spot monitors.

The new A-16II Personal Mixer is fully compatible with all existing Personal Monitor Mixing Systems and with Aviom’s AN-Series of Distributed Audio Network products. As with all Aviom A-Net™ compatible products, cable runs of up to 500 feet (150 meters) are possible between devices.

A-16II Personal Mixer Features: • Sixteen channel select buttons with dual LEDs • True stereo mixing with fully adjustable pan • Dedicated Recall, Group, Solo, and Mute buttons • New Held Solo mode • Sixteen user Preset memory locations • Create three Groups per mix Preset • Pan/Spread control with LED readout • Channel volume control with LED level readout • Master Volume, Treble and Bass controls • Line/Headphone audio output • Auto-detect mono/stereo circuitry • Compatible with the AVIOM16/o-Y1 Yamaha output card

Aviom A-16 Transmitter Audio from your main mixing board is routed to the A-16T Transmitter, a one space rack-mountable unit that converts the audio signals into digital data that is transmitted via our A-Net protocol to any number of A-16 Personal Mixers in the system. Yes, you read that right; you really can have an infinite number of Personal Mixers, and each can be up to 500 feet apart.

A-16D A-Net Distributor
The A-16D is designed to distribute the A-Net Signal from either an A-16T Transmitter or another A-16D Distributor. Each A-16D accepts one A-Net input signal and provides for eight simultaneous A-Net outputs using Category 5 Cables. The A-16D Distributor eliminates the need to daisy-chain A-Net devices, simplifying stage and studio setups.

A-16R Rack Mounted Personal Mixer
The A-16R is designed to meet the demanding requirements of touring and studio pros alike. The A-16R works great with wireless in-ear transmitters or power amps. Mount the A-16R in a rack with other gear to keep all audio outputs in one central location. Place an A-16CS near the performer for easy access to the monitor mix.

The A-16R retains all the features of the A-16 Personal Mixer, and adds many new connectivity options. There are balanced outputs on the rear panel (with both XLR and ¼" jacks), stereo balanced insert points, and an auxiliary stereo mix input with a front-panel level control. Also new is the ability to store and recall User Presets via MIDI. There are MIDI In, Out, and Thru jacks on the rear panel of the 1U-high unit. The A-16R can also accept the A-16CS Control Surface as an option.

The AN-16/i Input Module and the AN-16/o Output Module
A-Net Distributed Audio Networks
Powerful digital snake and audio distribution technology over Cat-5 cable

The AN-16/i and the AN-16/o are designed to work together to create a powerful digital audio network, capable of transferring high quality 24bit audio digitally over inexpensive, industry standard Category-5 cables. Each module contains 16 balanced audio connectors (1/4" TRS jacks or Euroblocks). But, unlike a traditional analog audio snake, the AN-16 Series of products allow you to expand the audio distribution network at both ends of the snake to suit a variety of audio distribution requirements. It's a snake, it's an infinite splitter, and more..

The AN-16 Series products can be used alone or can integrate easily into existing A-16 Personal Monitor Mixing Systems.

By adding the optional AN-16SB System Bridge, up to 64 channels of audio can be transferred over a single Cat-5 cable.
