The Tascam SX-1LE Digital Production Environment has a feature set you need to get serious projects done! 40-channel mixing and generous, expandable I/O
A powerful 40-input digital mixing console is integrated with the SX-1LE's recording section for seamless operation and stunning audio quality. Each of the 32 channel inputs has powerful processing features like 3-band parametric EQ and dynamics, and can be routed to the 8 buss outputs or stereo outs. Four stereo effects returns are provided for the four realtime DSP plug-ins.

Sophisticated MIDI sequencing
The 128-track MIDI sequencer adds even more recording capability. With four MIDI outputs, your arrangements have access to 64 MIDI channels. You get step and continuous recording modes, non-destructive quantize/diatonic transposition, MIDI reverse play, event list editing and graphic (piano roll) editing. The SX-1LE's SMPTE and MIDI timecode inputs allow synchronization with sequencers, DAWs or video playback.

Quick and easy recording interface
With just four button presses you can begin recording - perfect for those moments when you just need to get a new idea down. As your arrangement begins to take shape, you'll appreciate the 16 tracks of 24-bit recording and the clarity of the 16 phantom-powered mic pres. The VGA display output allows you to edit your tracks until you've assembled the perfect take.

When you're ready to mix, you get 3-band EQ on each of the 32 input channels, plus 4 stereo effects returns for the built-in or external effects. All of your mixing moves are fully automated using the touch-sensitive moving faders, and automation can be edited on the display to get it just right.

Full 5.1 surround mix and monitoring capabilities
With its dedicated 6-channel stem controller and recorder, the SX-1LE is a good fit for studios looking to capture and manipulate surround audio. The SX-1LE implements an intuitive interface for working in surround. Using the comprehensive GUI, you can place your audio anywhere within a 360° field to set the levels and panning for your surround playback. Also included are advanced surround controls for setting divergence and LFE, as well as the ability to cancel the center channel.

The Zoom MRS-802 features a built-in 20GB Hard Drive that will provide roughly 60 hours of 16-Bit uncompressed recording time. Tracks sound sweet thanks to the 44.1 Khz sampling rate and 24-bit A/D, D/A signal processing.

The MRS-802 has 8 mono digital recording tracks - but the drum machine uses its own discrete stereo track. There is a stereo master track for mixing down, so it's like having a 12 track recorder. Each of the 8 mono tracks and the stereo master track have 10 virtual takes per track. These can be used to record up to 10 different takes of a guitar solo or vocal riff, allowing the user to pick the best for mixing the final song. Virtual takes on the master track allow you save 10 different mix downs before you commit to one.

The MRS-802 has 2-track simultaneous input capability. 2 mono tracks can be linked to make stereo channels. It has 1/4" and XLR inputs (balanced and unbalanced) with 48V phantom power, as well as RCA and MIDI in and out. It also has a full range of non-linear editing capabilities, including cut and paste, copy, move, reverse direction play and time stretch/compress-all the effects of Zoom's more expensive models.

These editing functions also help out with the sampling and looping functions the MRS-802 offers. You can import and edit samples and loops using the optional CD-R/RW or the optional USB interface to import audio files.

The 802 is loaded with hundreds of pre-recorded beats, and each one can be edited and re-saved. There are more than 400 drum and percussion sounds built-in, including 43 different drum kits, each with 24 different sounds. Use the drum machine as a rhythm tool for timing, or compose complex rhythm tracks for your songs using Zoom's FAST™ programming system.

The MRS-802 has a huge palette of killer effects for guitars, instruments and vocals. 280 pre-programmed and editable effects "patches" are available at the inputs, and 40 send/return effects patches are available for mixing and mastering. Every track has editable track parameters that include: EQ high, EQ low, pan, chorus, delay, reverb. These functions are also automated, allowing the user to make automatic changes on any given track mid-song. Parameter settings are saved as "scenes". Users can save up to 100 scenes per song/project

The PS-04 provides 4 audio tracks, a stereo drum track, a bass track, modeling, multi-effects and a built-in microphone. Each of the 4 tracks provides 10 virtual takes, so you can record several performances, and use the best one. A complete array of digital editing facilities are built in, including bounce, copy, move, erase and trim-with no data degredation.

The input mixer is compatible with all guitars, bass and mics, and 2 track simultaneous recording is available. The PS-04 even provides Auto/Manual punch in-out, marker locating, EQ and pan for each track, and other functions comparable with full-sized Zoom hard disk recorders.

SmartMedia
The PS-04 uses SmartMedia as a recording medium. SmartMedia cards are light weight and low-priced. 128MB SmartMedia provides over 65 minutes recording time (in mono Hi-Fi mode). When you fill up a SmartMedia card, you can move all your song data to your computer susing a USB memory card reader (sold separately). Card Manager, a free software program, is provided on the Zoom website and includes WAV/AIFF converter functions.
