TANNOY VLS 30/VLS 30-WH Passive Column Array Loudspeaker with 30 Drivers and FAST Dispersion Control for Installation Applications BLACK/WHITE

The VLS 30 represents a 1600-Watt passive column array loudspeaker tailored for demanding acoustic environments and architecturally sensitive spaces necessitating background/foreground music and speech reinforcement. Its versatile applications span airports, train stations, conference centers, houses of worship, stadium concourses, museums, theme parks, and hotels. Central to its design is an asymmetrical vertical dispersion, delicately shaping acoustic coverage towards the lower quadrant of the vertical axis. Leveraging Focused Asymmetrical Shaping Technology™ (FAST), the VLS 30 ensures swift and hassle-free installation, minimizing the requirement for extensive tilting during optimal mounting. This high-performance system is elegantly packaged in a slender and narrow-profile, boasting a powder-coated aluminum chassis complemented by a curved stainless steel grille, ensuring both aesthetic refinement and robust functionality.

Superb Performance

The VLS 30 is equipped with 14 vertically aligned 3.5" low-frequency drivers and 16 vertically arrayed 1" high-frequency metal dome tweeters, ensuring impeccable audio reproduction ranging from 90 Hz to 35 kHz (-10 dB) and achieving a peak SPL of 126 dB (measured at 1 meter, Lo-Z). Its UV and weather-resistant aluminum enclosure provides a dispersion of 130° horizontal x +3° / -11° vertical, offering precise and targeted coverage. Furthermore, holding certifications for water and dust ingress protection to IP65 standards, the VLS 30 stands out as an outstanding choice for challenging environments such as indoor swimming pools, saunas, areas with high dust or moisture levels, as well as various outdoor applications.

FAST – Focused Asymmetrical Shaping Technology

The VLS 30 incorporates an asymmetrical vertical dispersion pattern, seamlessly blending enhanced performance with simplified mounting options, catering to a diverse range of installed applications. Its vertical dispersion capability enables precise targeting of optimal zones for even and meticulous coverage. Unlike many conventional column loudspeakers that typically demand significant downward tilt during installations, the VLS 30 requires notably less, even facilitating flush mounting. This feature significantly improves visual aesthetics while ensuring optimal audio dispersion, offering versatility and improved aesthetics in various settings.

Low-Z or Transformer Operation

A multi-position EN 54 compliant tamper-resistant rotary switch on the rear panel allows the choice of either the low-Z,
or the 70 / 100 V operating modes, with available transformer taps at 150; 75; 37.5; 19; 9.5, and 5 Watts.

Outdoor Applications

A right-angled water-tight cable gland is supplied with the VLS 30 for use in outdoor applications with an input panel cover secured to the cabinet using the four screws. Simply pass the wiring through the cable gland and make your connections on the provided barrier strip. A second strip is provided for linking additional loudspeakers in either low-Z or 70 / 100 V distributed systems.

Attractive & Easy to Install

The stylish and durable extruded aluminum enclosure with stainless steel grille features a semi-matt black paint finish that fits unobtrusively into even the most architecturally sensitive environments. Input is via a low insertion loss 150 W line transformer with multiple taps for 70 / 100 V line systems. A dedicated flying bracket, wall mount bracket, input panel cover plate, and weather-resistant gland are all included for ease of installation. At only 19 kg (41.8 lbs), the VLS 30 is significantly lighter and easier to install than many competing products.

Connections

Utilizing a pair of internally paralleled barrier strip connectors, the VLS 30 can either be connected to a low-Z amplifier, or used within a 70 / 100 V distributed system. The operation mode is easily selectable via a single switch located on the rear of the enclosure.

Build Quality

The VLS 30 showcases an architecturally styled extruded aluminum enclosure, resistant to corrosion, and adorned with a semi-matte black paint finish. Complementing its design is a stainless steel perforated grille. Moreover, the VLS 30 comes equipped with all necessary mounting hardware, meticulously engineered with an over-engineered approach, prioritizing safety to ensure a robust and secure installation experience.
