The SP-280 made by Korg is a professionally designed digital piano that is capable to faithfully reproduce the sound and feel of a concert grand piano, and it comes featuring a stylish design at the same time. Built ideal for home or stage use, the 88-key Natural Weighted Hammer Action (NH) keyboard is providing the same playing feel as that of an acoustic piano, that comes along with heavier action in the lower register, and a lighter response in the higher register. A Key Touch Control function is made for providing three levels of adjustment for specifying how playing dynamics will affect the output. Thirty sounds are included.

The SP-280 is made capable of providing a playing feel close to that of an acoustic piano by switching between four piano samples according to the dynamics of the performance. From delicate pianissimo to dynamic fortissimo, the sound is responding realistically and the "Grand Piano" sound is reproducing the damper resonance that is heard by the time the pressing the damper pedal of an acoustic piano. Authentic vintage electric piano sounds are period-accurate and are possible to reproduce not only the way in which the tone is responding to touch, but also the subtle noises that are occurring during the time a key is released. Six varieties of electric pianos are provided.

A Layer Mode is allowing for playing two sounds together, and a Partner Mode divides the keyboard into left and right regions, at the same time, so that two people are possible to play the same range of pitches. Two headphone jacks are making it convenient for two people to play together. Three effects are available - brilliance adjusts the brightness of the tone, reverb is simulating the natural ambience (reverberation) of a concert hall, and chorus is adding spaciousness. And two onboard amplifiers each are capable to deliver 22 Watts of power that comes along with the built-in speakers capable of producing plenty of volume intended for a small live event without requiring a PA system.

The lightweight design is making the transportation easy and the sturdy metal stand is light and easy to attach. A built-in metronome comes with a adjustable time signature, tempo, and volume. With the use of the stereo line in jack is allowing various audio devices to be played through the speakers, for practice or rehearsal. MIDI input and output is implemented for either controlling external sound modules, or for using the piano as a 16-part multi timbral sound module. The included damper pedal will function as a half-damper pedal, allowing for varying the damper effect by how far the pedal is depressed.
