The Volca FM made by Korg is a professionally designed 3-voice digital FM synthesizer that faithfully capable of reproducing the sound engine of a classic FM synthesizer that comes with its sharp, notable electric pianos, metallic sounds, and deep, full bass. The unit is featuring 6 operators, and 32 algorithms are providing complete compatibility and capable to even load files in the SYS-EX/SYX format of the Yamaha DX7. The Volca FM is making the editing patches easy and accessible that comes along with single knobs mapped to multiple parameters. The hardcore programmers are capable to menu dive into full parameter edits and a Parameter List Guide is included. Additionally, the instrument comes including an on-board chorus effect capable of adding depth and to your sound creations.

A built-in 16-step loop sequencer is offering the ability of recording phrases as you play them. The Motion Sequencer is giving you the capability to record knob edits in real time and the Warp Active Step and Pattern Chain functions are possible to provide dynamic changes to your programmed sequences at the same time. Additionally, an on-board arpeggiator comes offering a total of 9 types including three patterns each of "Rise", "Fall", and "Random" and aids for the creation of crazy looping rhythms and patterns.

The unit is possible to be programmed along with its 27-key Multi-Touch keypad or with an external MIDI controller or DAW with the use of its 5-pin DIN MIDI input. Multiple units from the Volca line are possible to be clock synced along with the 1/8" Sync In and Out connectors. By the time the two units of Volca FM are connected, you are possible to clone the sound programs and sequence data from Volca FM to Volca FM.
