The VLS 5 stands as a 480-watt passive column array loudspeaker tailored for demanding acoustic environments and architecturally sensitive spaces demanding speech reinforcement. Superb Performance

The VLS 5 integrates 5 vertically aligned 3.5" mid-range drivers, engineered to deliver immaculate speech reproduction spanning from 130 Hz to 15 kHz (-10 dB), achieving a peak SPL of 116 dB (measured at 1 meter, Lo-Z). Its UV and weather-resistant aluminum enclosure offers a dispersion of 130° horizontal x 45° vertical, providing precise and targeted coverage, and ensuring exceptional audio delivery in diverse environments.

Low-Z or Transformer Operation

A multi-position tamper-resistant rotary switch on the rear panel allows the choice of either the low-Z, or the 70 / 100 V operating modes, with available transformer taps at 100; 50; 25, and 12.5 Watts.

Outdoor Applications

The VLS 5 is equipped with a right-angled watertight cable gland tailored for outdoor applications. Alongside, an input panel cover plate is included, attachable to the cabinet using four screws. Setting up the system is straightforward: pass the wiring through the cable gland and establish connections using the provided barrier strip. Additionally, a second strip is available for linking extra loudspeakers, facilitating integration into low-Z or 70 / 100 V distributed systems with ease.

The VLS 5 boasts a sleek and robust extruded aluminum enclosure complemented by a stainless steel grille, adorned with a semi-matte black paint finish, ensuring seamless integration into architecturally sensitive environments. Its input is facilitated through a low-insertion loss 100 W line transformer featuring multiple taps tailored for 70 / 100 V line systems. For user convenience during installation, it comes equipped with a dedicated flying bracket, wall mount bracket, input panel cover plate, and a weather-resistant gland. Remarkably lightweight at just 8.2 kg (18.1 lbs), the VLS 5 stands out for its ease of installation and reduced weight compared to many competing products, ensuring simplified handling during setup.

Connections

Utilizing a pair of internally paralleled barrier strip connectors, the VLS 5 can either be connected to a low-Z amplifier, or used within a 70 / 100 V distributed system. The operation mode is easily selectable via a rotary switch located on the rear of the enclosure.
