TANNOY QFLEX 40 Digitally Steerable Powered Column Array Loudspeaker with 40 Independently Controlled Drivers, Integrated DSP and BeamEngine GUI Control for Installation Applications (QFLEX 40)

The QFLEX 40 is an advanced, digitally steerable multi-channel, column array loudspeaker equipped to address complex acoustic challenges in various installed applications. Its design caters to venues like houses of worship, transportation hubs, convention centers, conference facilities, shopping malls, performing arts centers, and museums. At its core lies our exclusive VNET loudspeaker networking platform, integrating sophisticated software and hardware DSP components. This technology is adept at delivering exceptionally clear speech intelligibility, powerful music reinforcement, and comprehensive diagnostics and monitoring for the entire loudspeaker system.

Class-Leading Control

While some steerable arrays offer limited steering capabilities within certain frequencies, the QFLEX 40 takes the lead with an exceptional ±70° steering control. With this extended range and the inclusion of 40 channels of integrated DSP and amplification, it ensures consistent and highly intelligible full-range reproduction for both voice and music applications. This class-leading steering range empowers precise control over audio dispersion, enabling superior performance in various sound environments.

A Revolution in Sound Technology

The QFLEX 40 introduces pioneering BeamEngine technology, digitally steering full-range sound away from surfaces prone to reflections. Unlike systems with predefined opening and steering angles, the intuitive BeamEngine GUI empowers designers to specify target areas, generating a tailored steering algorithm for each location. This approach produces an asymmetrical pattern that ensures consistent sound pressure levels (SPL) in both near and far fields, optimizing coverage and intelligibility. All these advanced capabilities are packaged in an aesthetically pleasing design.

Drivers, Power & DSP

The QFLEX 40 features a robust setup with eight 4" low-frequency drivers, sixteen 3" low-frequency drivers, and sixteen 1" high-frequency drivers. Each driver boasts its own dedicated 100-watt Class D amplifier and integrated state-of-the-art DSP. Arranged in a high-density array with proportional frequency spacing, these drivers offer digitally steerable coverage spanning distances of up to 70 meters (230 feet) without aliasing artifacts. The internal DSP seamlessly collaborates with the proprietary VNET and BeamEngine software, both available for free download.

Scalability

The QFLEX 40 isn't just a top-tier standalone self-powered column array; it's also an exceptional addition to multiple-column configurations that include other TANNOY VNET-enabled products. Networking between nodes is achieved through durable Neutrik Ethercon connectors, which are fully compatible with standard RJ45 plugs and CAT5 cables. Each speaker is assigned a unique address, allowing for automatic location detection within the network.

System Add-Ons

The VNET-enabled QFLEX 40 offers a comprehensive range of accessory options, including the VNET ETHERNET INTERFACE, VNET USB RS232 INTERFACE, VNET2-AES INTERFACE, VNET INTERFACE POWER SUPPLY, VNET INTERFACE RACK MOUNT, SENTINEL SM1 for monitoring VNET networked PA/VA systems, and the QFLEX ISOLATOR, which effectively eliminates potential ground/hum issues. These accessories enhance functionality and ensure seamless integration within various setups and configurations.

PA/VA Compliant

That high level of telemetry functionality in the QFLEX 40 ensures it meets the stringent standards for public address and voice alarm systems, making it fully compliant for use in critical life safety or mass notification environments. This level of reliability and compliance is crucial for ensuring effective communication in emergencies.

Build Quality

The architecturally styled corrosion-resistant aluminum enclosure and perforated grille are finished in semi-matt white paint. The QFLEX 40 also includes the necessary custom mounting hardware for quick and accurate installation. Mains input and output link power connectors are Neutrik powerCON.
