The Yamaha TF3 is the middle brother in the TF Series Digital mixer line. So you have the TF5 as the largest and the TF1 as the smallest inline.  The Yamaha TF3 is right in the middle, not too big, and not too small. It has 24 motorized faders as opposed to 33 on the TF5 but pretty much everything is identical to the TF5.  The best use for the Expansion slot on the Yamaha TF3 is by connecting the Yamaha NY64-Dante Card.  The best part about the TF3 is that it can be rack mounted on a rack, so it is rack-mountable. The TF3 and TF1 make a great compact solution for Live Recording as its small so you can carry it to the local club and while mixing you can record the band as well
