The Pro Intercom MC10 is the perfect professional way for providing access to as many as 4 intercom circuits at a remote location. A headset station (belt pack) plugged into the 3-pin XLR on the MC10 will be connected to the circuit that can be chosen using the rotating selector switch. This make-before-break rotary switch is connecting the belt pack to the new circuit before disconnecting it from the current one that provides a smooth, squeal-free transition. A capacitor is provided for isolating the circuit ground from true ground which helps a lot for the elimination of the "pop" and RF interference. The selector switch is factory set for 2 circuits and can possibly change to 3 or 4. Circuit cabling is connected to the MC10 using the 12-position screw-terminal strips on the rear of the PC board. Either side is possible to be used for connecting the circuits, with the other side then being used for cabling onwards to the next location, if needed.

The normal configuration is assuming that all connected circuits are powered by the same power supply or master station. Therefore the terminals relating to pins one and two of the XLR are common across the four circuits. In the event that the location being served needs to switch between two or more completely separately powered systems, links on the PC board may be removed with a sharp blade.When the links have been removed, all three connection points (X, L & R) are then switched. (For a fuller discussion of intercom cabling ask us for the application note on that topic.) The MC10 is designed to fit in a standard single-gang electrical box. Where conduit and outlet boxes are not available, the MC10 will fit perfectly into a Wiremold surface mount box. Wiremold products are readily available in electrical supply and most hardware stores.
