Soundtube SUBSCAPE 12, Rockustics Outdoor 12" In-Ground Band-Pass Subwoofer

The Soundtube SUBSCAPE 12 feature its a direct-burial, 12" subwoofer to complement Periscape speakers. The Soundtube SUBSCAPE 12 also has a 300 watts (RMS) of power handling, it brings ground-shaking bass response to your outdoor installations and is the perfect companion to Periscape spike-mount speakers. Once installed, the only visible part of the speaker is a discreet, brown vent cap. Only one subscape subwoofer is suitable for intallations of up to 7 Periscape units; additional subwoofers are recommended for larger installations. The Soundtube SUBSCAPE 12 may also be used with other Rockustics speakers or other outdoor products. A built-in transformer provides convenience for 70V installations; the subwoofer may also be operated in 8 ohm direct mode, we recommend the use of the PhaseTech P350 subwoofer amp.

SITE PREPARATION

There are several factors to consider when choosing mounting locations for your Periscape landscape speakers from Rockustics:

  • The speakers may be mounted in the ground with the provided ground spike or they may be mounted on walls or vertical surfaces with the optional wall mounting plate.
  • There should be a direct line of sight from the speaker to the listening area.
  • Position each speaker so they are all the same distance away from the listening area.
  • Using high and low speaker locations will help to centralize the acoustic stage.
  • Position the speakers 15’ - 20’ apart, but not more than 30’ from the listening area.
  • Be sure to select mounting locations that will not have high foot traffic or where landscaping equipment will frequently pass by
  • Do not place the speakers in areas that are prone to flooding with standing water
  • The speakers should not be positioned directly in front of, or in direct spray from, sprinklers.
  • Do not aim the speaker at more than 45˚ from horizontal.
  • A spike mount extension is available for installations requiring additional mounting depth.
