Designed for high-definition field production applications, the Sound Devices MP-1 is a single-channel microphone preamp that offers studio-grade audio in a portable, lightweight chassis. The unit offers a transformer-balanced XLR microphone input and line-level output resulting in strong gain and low noise floor. A wide gain-adjustment dial gives up to 66 dB of gain in eleven separate stages.

A 3-position phantom power switch enables 12 or 48V phantom power for condenser microphones. A low-cut filter switch removes noise due to wind and proximity effect at 80 or 160 Hz (user switchable). Peak limiter switch moderates signal peaks, eliminating distortion due to signal over load. The MP-1 is powered with 2 AA batteries (sold separately) for roughly 24 hours.
