Launched at NAB and demonstrated at MPTS, the multi-channel Dante headphone amplifier AVN-AH8 is currently available for purchase. With input from the Dante AoIP network, the AVN-AH8 is a 1U rack-mount device that provides up to 8 distinct sets of headphones with 2 sets of stereo audio. One common use would be to give visitors to a radio studio shared headphone feeds that originate via the AoIP network.

"We have had amazing feedback from NAB & MPTS customers on this product. Since there aren't many Dante-based headphone amplifiers available, we've added a few Dante options to our inventory of passive and active analog headphone amplifiers, along with our AVN-DIO03 single headphone amplifier.

Each output features a rotary level control and unbalanced 1/4" and 3.5mm jack connections on the front panel. The headphone levels are adjusted using the front panel potentiometers, which range from mute (totally anticlockwise) to 0dB of gain (completely clockwise). If the Dante stream level needs to be adjusted due to low or high levels, this is helpful. If the unit is mounted in an enclosed rack, the rear panel features eight parallel 1/4" jacks to facilitate cabling. Two stereo Dante sources are routed through a Dante controller, and each of the eight professional headphone outputs can select one of them. One of the two rotary dials on the front panel can be used to modify the level of each stereo Dante stream by ±12dB. The device is compliant with Dante Domain Manager and supports AES67 operation.

The AVN-AH8 front panel contains a power (PoE) LED, a DC LED, a network link status LED, and a clock LED. A recessed reset switch is also provided. The unit is powered via Power over Ethernet (PoE) or a 12VDC input via a locking 2.5mm DC Input, 2A minimum rating.
