Sonifex RB-HD6 6 Way Stereo Headphone Distribution Amplifier (1U)

The RB-HD6 headphone distribution amplifier is a 1U rack-mount device that can be used as six separate headphone amplifiers, each having an input and volume control, or it can distribute stereo music to up to six separate pairs of headphones. Common headphone feeds for guests in a radio studio combined with a separate derived feed—possibly with talk-back—for the broadcaster may be a typical application.

The primary stereo input is connected to XLR-3 connectors on the back panel. These connectors can be wired unbalanced and are electronically balanced. To give a mono feed to the headphones, a stereo/mono input switch on the back panel sums the left and right outputs. There is a jack connection on each output channel that allows the unit to receive an override audio signal. The headphone output from the master audio signal will be switched to the audio on the jack plug when it is plugged in. By adjusting internal jumpers, the override audio inputs can also be independently set as parallel outputs of the front sockets. The channels that use the override inputs remain unaffected by the master volume control, which modifies the overall level of the six outputs. The master volume control adjusts the overall level of the 6 outputs and does not affect the level of channels using the override inputs. The master volume can be disabled by internal jumpers.
