Sonifex RB-MS4X3 Quad 3 Way Passive Microphone Splitter

A 19" rack has the passive quad "one-to-three" splitter, RB-MS4X3. Using Neutrik XLR connections, each bank is made to divide a single line source or microphone to up to three destinations. Recessed controls and indicators on the front panel give the user quick and easy access to setting options, while cable connections are found on the rear panel.

Wide Signal Range Capability

Because the RB-MS4X3 splitter employs premium audio transformers that can handle input levels of up to +18dBu, it can be used for both line-level splitting and microphone applications. It is possible to interface a line-level signal with appropriate levels and termination into a microphone input by applying a 30dB pad to the input.

Versatile Phantom Powering Options

The RB-MS4X3 offers three methods of providing phantom power to a microphone connected to its input:

  • From the external +48VDC power connector.
  • From a microphone amplifier connected to output 1 (direct).
  • From a microphone amplifier connected to output 2 (phantom loopback).

Controlling which method is used to provide phantom power is easy with front panel switches and indicators. It is possible to concurrently power a microphone using any two of the above methods without degrading audio performance, thus providing power supply redundancy.

Ground Loop Hum Elimination

Ground loop hum problems can be quickly eliminated using the front panel toggle switches to lift pin 1 of the output connectors (outputs 2 and 3 only).
