With boosted gain tailored to accommodate mic inputs, particularly valve and FET condenser varieties, the HG 15 welcomes a range of moving coil types, including Shure and Audio Technica, especially effective for louder or close-miked sound sources. Set the Threshold switch to Comp Out, and the HG 15 transforms into a pristine mic/line amplifier. Enhance the sonic character with a touch of Active EQ, "Presence," or "Air" to impart brilliance, then engage compression for that signature Thermionic Culture "super-natural" effect. The Output Level control acts as a reverse linear attenuator, offering flexibility to adjust levels or infuse attitude by tweaking input and output levels. When operating from line level, toggle the input from "Line" to "Pad," ensuring the +48v switch remains off to prevent overloading. For stereo applications, seamlessly link two HG 15 units using a phono-phono lead from the Link socket at the rear. The Side Chain Bass Cut switch, also beneficial in mono operation, adds to the unit's versatility.
