Introducing The Swift, a versatile two-channel equalizer designed to excel in tracking individual instruments or enhancing stereo mix busses with its powerful equalization capabilities. Named after Britain's fastest bird in level flight, this unit draws inspiration from classic valve recording designs while incorporating modern improvements and unique features. The core electronics of The Swift are based on a 1950s EMI desk, enhanced with extended top and bass response. Retaining the BAXANDALL type active EQ from the original design, we've added a Presence switch for a broad band lift to mid/high frequencies, inspired by Vic Keary's 1963 invention used in his own mixing desks. The mid lift controls, reminiscent of the Pultec design, offer passive equalization at four carefully selected frequencies, each with three "Q" settings for precise sculpting of the midrange. Our unique features include a Hi Pass Filter, Mid Cut, and "Air" control, all operating passively to add versatility to your sound shaping. For creative effects reminiscent of the Pultec type, the High Pass Filter combined with generous bass lift at 50 or 100 Hz can yield intriguing results. All controls on The Swift are continuously variable, chosen for their subtlety and reliability. Gain settings are conveniently placed on switches for quick comparison, while the BYPASS switch disengages the electronics, allowing you to hear the unaltered original signal. Although influenced by vintage designs, our electronic engineering represents a significant advancement. With only two valves per channel to minimize coloration, and employing specially designed Sowter transformers and valves not previously used in this circuit type, The Swift delivers outstanding sonic performance and technical specifications. These modern components provide a distinct advantage over the original designs, offering exceptional sound quality and versatility.
