LAB GRUPPEN PLM 5K44_002 5000W Amplifier with 4 Flexible Output-Channels, Lake Digital Signal Processing and Digital Audio Networking for Touring Applications (PLM 5K44_002)
The PLM 12K44 represents the pinnacle of powered loudspeaker management systems, combining a 4-in, 4-out configuration with the industry-standard Dante Networking, setting a new benchmark in this realm. Building upon the renowned Lab Gruppen touring legacy seen in the iconic PLM series, the PLM 12K44 introduces a powerful new feature: the ability to optimize performance by intelligently allocating power between channels. This latest iteration now offers an extended 4-in, 4-out configuration coupled with twice the processing power through the latest version 6.3 Lake Controller release and incorporates industry-standard Dante® networking. Featuring four channels of incredibly robust amplification alongside unparalleled signal processing and audio management, the PLM 12K44 embodies the essence of total integration. This integration spans across all facets, including networking, audio I/O, signal processing, amplification, power supply, and connected mains supply, culminating in complete control and monitoring of the entire platform. This comprehensive integration results in unparalleled operational advantages, setting a new standard in the domain of powered loudspeaker management systems.
Rational Power Management (RPM)
The PLM 12K44 introduces Rational Power Management (RPM), a proprietary technology from Lab Gruppen, elevating the capabilities beyond traditional expectations. RPM empowers designers and systems techs with unprecedented control over allocating the available output power of each amplifier channel, optimizing performance under specific load conditions. This breakthrough feature provides genuine flexibility by enabling tailoring of each channel to meet the precise requirements of the connected load, with any unused power redistributing for use across other channels. RPM revolutionizes conventional practices by eliminating the need for over-specification or bridging adjacent channels to accommodate power-hungry loads. This eradicates the loss of channel count and enables substantial cost savings, reduced rack space, and improved long-term energy efficiency, all while preserving sonic performance integrity. With Rational Power Management, features ensure the defined power output for specific channels, facilitating calculations for different loads within the CAFÉ software. RPM analyzes these power demands in relation to channel and device constraints, guiding system designers toward the most efficient means of powering the PA. The practical impact of Rational Power Management is substantial, yielding immediate and long-term savings. Often, fewer amplifiers or lower-cost models suffice while meeting power requirements. It optimizes mains management, preventing over-specification of mains distribution, cooling, and UPS units. Moreover, enhanced efficiency in larger systems minimizes current consumption, leading to reduced operational costs and delivering an eco-friendly advantage—a testament to its sustainable and cost-effective design for system owners.
The Power of Lake Processing
The PLM 12K44 harnesses the unparalleled power of exclusive Lake Processing algorithms, integrating four comprehensive Lake modules with four discrete channels of audio throughput from input to output. It provides versatile signal selection, with audio sourced from four analog channels (featuring Iso-Float ground isolation), four via AES3 digital inputs, and eight dual redundant Dante networked digital inputs. Each channel offers individual input signal selection, with programmable failover to alternate inputs as needed. Its onboard Lake Processor boasts full features, including group control and Raised Cosine MESA EQ asymmetric filters that precisely align with diverse loudspeaker responses. The LimiterMax peak and RMS limiters set industry benchmarks for safeguarding loudspeakers while preserving sonic transparency. The bundled Lake Controller software serves as a unified interface, enabling control over Lake functions and comprehensive monitoring of amplifier status and connected loudspeaker loads. Optimized for wireless tablet PCs, the interface is intuitive, mirroring the tactile feel of real-time analog controls and faders. Additionally, it seamlessly integrates with third-party real-time sound system measurement, optimization, and control software. This allows users to conduct spectrum measurements, adjust system EQ, and analyze transfer functions simultaneously, streamlining the entire process through a unified user interface. Lake Processing also offers an array of crossover options, from classical to linear-phase crossovers, providing slopes of up to 48 dB per octave or exceeding 180 dB per octave. This level of control helps limit issues like lobing and off-axis cancellation, enhancing precision and performance in audio management.
CAFÉ for Green Credentials
CAFÉ (Configuring Amplifiers For the Environment) is a software suite that allows the PLM 12K44 to be easily configured and monitored in the most efficient manner possible. In addition to providing comprehensive system surveillance and configuration of RPM and other amplifier features such as ISVPL and Breaker Emulation Limiter (BEL), CAFÉ also includes valuable help to save the environment. In combination with the RPM configuration, CAFÉ can accurately predict estimations of average mains current draw and generated heat, and utilizing the PLM+ Series’ innovative power supply technologies in combination with BEL the mains draw can be safeguarded to a predicted level. The result is precise mains management and thermal control, which allows more accurate (rather than over-specified) provision of mains distribution, cabling, and cooling. This technology suite reduces lifetime running costs and minimizes environmental impact. It also reduces demands on UPS systems.
Allocate Power Where It Is Needed
RPM Provides ultimate flexibility of power output allocation across channels to match specific load requirements, enabling more efficient use of amplifier inventory.
More is More: Power, Performance and Processing
PLM+ offers unprecedented levels of refined performance, double the processing power, and even better overall efficiency – proven, tested, and trusted.
