The preamp section of the Rooster 2 amplifies mic, line, or DI input signals with the smooth-sounding gain stage provided by the double triode input valve (12AX7) following the balancing input transformer. A dedicated toggle switch allows for easy application of 48-volt phantom power to compatible microphones, while the DI input bypasses the transformer for a suitable high impedance unbalanced input. Explore a spectrum of tonal possibilities with the 'Attitude' section, which offers precise control over the amount of distortion produced by the 5654 valve. At low Attitude settings, the natural distortion remains below 0.1%, while increasing the Attitude introduces additional harmonics, imparting a warm, valve-driven sound characteristic of the Rooster 2.

Similar to the renowned Culture Vulture, the Rooster 2 dynamically generates predominantly 2nd order harmonics in 'Triode' mode and 3rd order harmonics in 'Pentode' mode, offering versatile tone and dynamics control over the input signal. Harness the power of the EQ section to sculpt your sound with precision. The Bass lift control provides continuous adjustment over bass frequencies using a unique 'varislope' curve peaking at 60Hz, while the 'mid/high' lift control offers variable gain peaking at selectable frequencies, catering to diverse musical needs. Fine-tune your audio with the 'Mid cut' control, which offers a bell-type curve centered at 700Hz, and the 'Bass cut' switched control, featuring five positions with different cutting curves for comprehensive frequency management.

Additionally, the 'LPF' (Low Pass Filter) switch control enables the reduction of high frequencies to mitigate harsh-sounding harmonics, ensuring a smooth, polished output even under heavy distortion.
