Sonifex RB-SL2 Twin Mono, or Stereo, Limiter

The RB-SL2 is a stereo, or twin independent mono, VCA limiter designed for use in newsrooms and other settings where proper level input is necessary for recording equipment, but where an engineer isn't always present, like in overload protection scenarios. It can also be used as a low-cost main output limiter for student, hospital, and small-scale radio stations. It is possible to wire the electronically balanced XLR-3 inputs and outputs unbalanced in order to accept an output from household appliances.

There is a threshold level control and an input gain for every channel. The input potentiometers can be used to normalize the input through to output when the limit threshold is set to the maximum. The recovery can be modified for the application and the limit threshold level set once the unit is functioning as a buffer with gain/attenuation. The power LED flashes to indicate limitation. When only the pre-sets for channel 1 (left) are active and apply to both channels, the unit switches from dual mono to stereo via the mode switch on the rear panel. In order to limit either the left or the right input, stereo limiting works by limiting both the left and the right outputs. With dual mono limiting, you can utilize the RB-SL2 as two independent mono limiters by limiting the left and right signals separately.
