Sonifex RB-PA2 Dual Stereo RIAA Phono Amplifier
A dual stereo RIAA equalized phono amplifier is called the RB-PA2. This record player preamp offers the RIAA equalization needed for vinyl records by amplifying the modest signal from your pick-up cartridge (moving magnet or high output moving coil magnetic). You may then match that signal to a line input of your mixer or amplifier. Its clear RIAA response makes it perfect for usage with DJ decks and broadcast turntables, as well as for archiving vinyl records to CD for high-quality transfers or mp3 conversion.
The Technics SL-1200TM and 1210TM line of turntables have been specifically tested to function with it, and it uses phono cartridges with a nominal output of 1mV to 25mV. A very transparent signal route has been created by combining high-quality, high-spec components with operational amplifiers that operate quickly and with minimal noise.
In addition, the RB-PA2's powerful bass response is achieved by omitting a rumble filter.
A dual stereo unit that can interface with up to two turntables is the RB-PA2. Neutrik XLR connectors are used for the balanced outputs, which can be connected unbalanced if necessary. The inputs are phono connections. Using pre-set potentiometers, the output gain for the left and right channels can be independently adjusted within the range of 35dB to 65 dB. Generally, noise is better than -84dB RMS A weighted at 40dB gain, and frequency response is maintained within 0.5dB of the RIAA curve.
