The RB-VHDMA8 is a 19-inch rack unit that houses an 8 channel analog de-embedder. Up to eight channels from any audio group of an SDI video stream can be selectively de-embedded by the machine and sent to any analogue output. The video then splits into two separate routes, each of which can have its audio groups added, removed, or passed through before being routed to the re-clocked SDI outputs. The buttons and lights on the front panel are used to regulate the de-embedding channel routing. Indicators for the presence of audio groups and the status of SDI inputs are similarly LED-based. The Sonifex SCi software can be used to remotely control the machine over Ethernet or serial port connections. It has a triple rate SDI receiver with automatic input rate detection and equalisation along with two re-clocked and individually buffered SDI outputs. It supports the full range of single link 3G, HD and SD standards from NTSC and PAL up to 1080p 60Hz. There is independent level control for each analogue output channel, which can be adjusted from -24dB through to +24dB in 0.5dB steps. Jumpers within the machine can be used to adjust the three full-scale gain settings available for the analogue outputs. Reference FSD of +12dBu, +18dBu, and +24dBu are acceptable settings. One type of output can be employed for each of the paralleled balanced and unbalanced output connections.
