A 1U rack-mount device called the RB-SS10 10-way stereo analog source selector/mixer generates a stereo analog audio output from ten chosen stereo analog sources. Ten lighted pushbuttons on the front panel indicate and choose the channel that is now selected. There is also a remote connector on the back panel that provides access to the selection and indicator. There is a remote input to disable the front panel buttons to prevent unintentional selection.

There are two XLR stereo inputs available for hot-plugging audio sources, such as portable recorders. By turning on the mix mode, the RB-SS10 can function as a mixer in addition to a source select module (using the remote input). The pre-set potentiometers on the front panel can be used to separately adjust the gain for the left and right inputs. In addition to routing the designated audio signal, the device will also route a remote signal input—for example, a CD player—through the remote connector to the designated input source. With a maximum output level of +12dBu, the front panel headphone output has a volume control that operates independently of the primary outputs' level adjustment. A switch on the back panel can be used to enable or disable the feature that allows the volume control to also change the output level of the primary XLR outputs. On the front panel, there is a designation strip that helps provide meaningful descriptions for the buttons. Perfect for installation work, the strip hides the input gain knobs so that, once established, they cannot be easily changed. The unit's LED on the front panel serves as a power-on indicator.
