KLARKTEKNIK DN9652-UL Dual Network Bridge Format Converter with up to 64 Bidirectional Channels and Asynchronous Sample Rate Conversion

The DN9652 serves as a multi-channel bridge between two distinct third-party digital audio networks and their point-to-point interfaces. These interfaces operate within separate clock domains and are linked by a bidirectional asynchronous sample rate converter (ASRC). This innovative technology from Klark Teknik allows for the seamless interfacing of up to 64 bidirectional channels between these independently clocked domains, even if they operate at different sample rates. Presently, it supports MADI and Audinate Dante through the Klark Teknik KT-MADI and KT-DANTE64 network modules, ensuring future adaptability in the dynamic landscape of digital audio networking technologies. Its industry-standard expansion slot, compatible with the Cirrus CM-1 format, enables support for upcoming protocols and technologies.

Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter

The multichannel bidirectional Asynchronous Sample Rate Converter (ASRC) serves to allow the autonomy of the two third-party domains. However, in cases requiring synchronization between these networks, the ASRC includes a bypass feature. This feature enables direct clocking of one third-party network domain from the other, facilitating synchronization when necessary. Moreover, when these domains operate independently, any clock failure or loss of synchronization in one domain won't necessarily impact the operation of the other. For dual-redundant systems, it's often advantageous to propagate a clock failure from one domain to the other for recognition and initiation of switchover to the redundant network. DN9652 is equipped with a user-configurable bidirectional output clock inhibit feature. This feature halts the output clock in the event of incoming clock synchronization failure.

Flexible Synchronisation

DN9652 is equipped to support 24-bit audio operation independently at 48 kHz and 96 kHz within both third-party network domains. BNC connectors facilitate word clock input and output connections, with an additional black burst horizontal video sync input. This sync input accommodates PAL, SECAM, and NTSC formats in standard definition and high definition at 720P, 1080P, and 1080i. The word clock output can be sourced from either the clock domain of the third-party network or the word clock input. Notably, DN9652 integrates a precision "AES Grade 1" reference temperature-compensated clock oscillator featuring 1 part-per-million (ppm) stability. This exceptionally accurate clock source serves as a reference for digital audio systems, ensuring a well-defined sound image devoid of jitter and other digital clocking anomalies. In each third-party network domain, synchronization options are extensive. These domains can sync to various sources: the external network clock (with or without word clock sync), the network module's onboard clock, the word clock input, or the black burst video sync input. There's also the option to slave to the other network clock domain if the ASRC is bypassed. This flexibility allows for tailored synchronization to suit specific network requirements.
