The DN9680 offers a high-capacity solution overcoming the limitations posed by Ethernet and CAT5 cabling in AES50 networks, allowing extension beyond the 100-meter constraint. By utilizing a pair of DN9680 units, you can extend up to eight AES50 connections (192 bidirectional channels) via single-mode optical fiber for 1,000 meters or through CAT5 copper cable for up to 100 meters. This simplifies long-distance connections by employing a single bidirectional snake cable. Functioning as a bidirectional multiplexer and demultiplexer, the DN9680 merges the incoming AES50 streams into the outgoing snake connection and simultaneously segregates the incoming snake connection into eight AES50 streams directed to the corresponding AES50 ports. This setup ensures transparency in use, resulting in a minimal propagation delay of only 250 microseconds. Initially compatible with single-mode dual fiber cable, the DN9680 offers the DN9680-MM upgrade option, enabling adaptation for use with multimode dual fiber cable across a 500-meter range.

Digital Audio Networking

The SuperMAC (AES50-Compliant) digital audio networking technology by Klark Teknik delivers exceptional performance, offering high channel counts, extremely low and consistent latencies, sample-synchronous and phase-aligned networked clock distribution, error detection and correction, network redundancy, and easy deployment for the rigorous demands of live concert touring. DN9680 is fully compatible with all Midas PRO Series and XL8 digital consoles, audio system engines, and digital I/O units, along with any other devices equipped with AES50 at a 96 kHz sample rate. This compatibility ensures seamless integration and robust performance across various setups and equipment configurations.

Flexible Synchronisation

The DN9680 is equipped with an exceptionally precise “AES Grade 1” reference temperature-compensated clock oscillator boasting 1 part-per-million (ppm) stability. This superior clock source serves as the unit's internal clock, offering remarkable accuracy ideal for defining a clear, detailed sound image without the interference of jitter or other digital clocking errors. Users have the flexibility to synchronize the DN9680 to different clock sources. In configurations where two DN9680 units are employed in a larger system, the primary transmitter can sync with the incoming external AES50 clock, while the designated receiver aligns with the incoming snake clock. Alternatively, depending on the system layout, the primary transmitter may act as the reference clock master by selecting the internal 1 ppm oscillator as its clock source.

Dual Media Snakes

The DN9680 is versatile in its connectivity options, supporting both optical fiber and copper snakes through a Gigabit Ethernet digital audio point-to-point link. For optical fiber snake connections, it employs a dual-fibre Neutrik opticalCON DUO connector, facilitating a bidirectional optical link using a single-mode dual-fibre cable. Additionally, users have the option to opt for the DN9680-MM upgrade kit, which enables the unit to be compatible with multi-mode dual fiber cable setups.

Internal Web Server

The DN9680 boasts an onboard web server, enabling configuration via a web browser application that operates independently of platforms. This streamlined approach eliminates the need for various control applications and supports different versions of operating systems. Users can easily select clock sources and choose between copper.
